Equipping The Saints

Level 1 certification is perfect for pastors, elders, ministry staff, lay leaders, small group leaders, and essentially any believer wanting to grow in the one-another care we're all called to as the body of Christ. This eight-month rigorous certification is designed to equip believers to apply the depth of the gospel to the hearts and struggles of others. Biblical counseling foundations will be established theologically and applied practically. Students will be prepared to offer effective gospel care to individuals, couples, and families with real biblical change. Issue-specific topics will include addictions, anger, anxiety, and depression.

Course Description

This course allows the students to become Level 1 certified biblical counselors through The Association of Biblical Counselors. Students will read through the Equipped to Counsel curriculum and related journal articles, take exams, collaborate, role play, engage in a counseling practicum, and be supervised throughout the training process. Upon completing the course, your Level 1 certificate will be issued and your ABC membership must be renewed annually.

Objectives

Develop a biblical philosophy of care that emphasizes the gospel imperatives of care(Eph. 4:12-16).
Participate in in-class training
Complete seminar training from Paul David Tripp.
Participate in role-playing and case studies.
Engage in a counseling practicum to ensure comprehension of the material.
Engage with various issue-specific topics that include, addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, and sexuality.
Upon completion, students can continue on to Level 2 Certification with Truth Renewed in person or online.

Requirements

Students are expected to complete all weekly reading and assignments.
Attend In-Class training.
Fully engage with all interactive activities like role-playing, case studies, and group time.
Complete a 10-week practicum by counseling someone through curriculum journals.
The estimated time of completing certification training is eight months with roughly five hours dedicated to weekly reading and assignments.
Students must remain ABC members by renewing their membership annually.

Counseling Practicum

Mid-way through the class, the students will be required to counsel an individual for ten weeks. Counseling meetings may take place in person or via video, but they should be in a private setting. You will have a clear process using the ABC journal packet, completing one for each session and receiving feedback from Truth Renewed supervisors.

Reading

Journal Reading consists of the Equipped to Counsel curriculum book and supplemental articles that coincide with the book chapters. All of which is due weekly and should be read before coming to class.

Truth Renewed is a training center in partnership with the Association of Biblical Counselors.
